    ABOUT THE BEAN:

    Kamwangi is one of two coffee factories run by New Ngariama Cooperative Society in Kirinyaga county. The factory is dressed with red-volcanic soil that infuses it with all the mineral and organic goodness necessary for optimum production. It also enjoys cool temperatures of 13-26°C and around 1,100mm of annual rainfall. The picked Kamwangi coffee cherries are hand sorted for unripes and overripes by the farmers, the pulp is removed and it is fermented for 24-36 hour under close shade depending on climate temperatures. It is washed again and sun dried 12 to 20 days on African drying beds.
