Perú, La Palestina (Bourbon)
About the Bean
Under the shade of native trees comes a beautiful Bourbon coffee, courtesy of long-time producer Jose Praxedes Alarcon. Residing within the high jungles of Peru two hours outside the city of Jaén, La Palestina has the ideal terroir for growing Bourbon coffee. In fact, it makes up 70% of the farm’s total land area!
After harvest (occurring between May and September), Jose processes these beans using the washed method. They pulp the coffee and allow it to ferment before washing and drying in a solar dryer. The result is a sweet cup full of stone fruit and citrus flavour.
